This website is operated by Daniel Lascelles, trading under the registered business name D.L. Proteasoft, who is the Data Controller for the Personal Data described in this policy. References to "Proteasoft" throughout this document mean Daniel Lascelles trading as D.L. Proteasoft.
You can contact the controller at info@proteasoft.com.
This document explains what Personal Data Proteasoft collects, how it's used, and the rights you have over it. Personal Data is only collected through specific actions you take, such as submitting the contact form. Continuing to browse this site does not, on its own, constitute consent to any data collection.
As Data Controller, Proteasoft decides what is collected and how it's used, and is responsible for protecting it under GDPR.
Proteasoft may use third-party Service Providers (such as web hosting and email infrastructure) to process data on its behalf. These providers handle the data only as instructed by Proteasoft and only to the extent needed to deliver their services.
What Proteasoft Collects
Proteasoft collects two categories of information, each for specific purposes set out below.
Personal Data
When you submit the contact form, Proteasoft collects the information you provide voluntarily. This typically includes your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message. Personal Data is information that can identify you, either on its own or combined with other information.
This is the only way Personal Data is collected. Proteasoft does not buy data, scrape contact details from third parties, or build profiles from visitor behaviour.
Usage Data
When you visit this site, your browser automatically sends technical information that the server records as part of normal operation. This may include your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you visit, the time and date of the visit, and how long you spent on each page.
This data is recorded in standard server logs and used to monitor site security and performance. It is not combined with Personal Data to track individual visitors and is not shared with third parties.
Cookies
Proteasoft uses essential cookies for site functionality and security only. No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, and no third-party analytics cookies are set.
Spam Protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)
The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a service of Cloudflare, Inc. that checks that a submission comes from a person rather than an automated program. To make that decision, Turnstile evaluates technical signals from your browser, including your IP address, browser and device characteristics, and how you interact with the page. Cloudflare uses these signals only to verify the submission and to keep its service secure. The data is never used for advertising.
The lawful basis for this processing is Proteasoft's legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) in protecting the contact form from spam and abuse. Cloudflare may process these signals outside the European Economic Area, subject to the safeguards described under "Where Data is Processed". Cloudflare's own privacy policy is at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
How Proteasoft Uses the Data
Personal Data submitted through the contact form is used to:
- Respond to your inquiry
- Continue any subsequent conversation about the project you described
- Maintain records of business correspondence
Usage Data is used to:
- Monitor the security of the site
- Identify and resolve technical problems
- Comply with legal obligations (for example, retaining logs for the period required by Cypriot law)
Lawful basis for processing under GDPR:
- Personal Data submitted through the contact form is processed on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a)) and Proteasoft's legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) in responding to inquiries
- Usage Data is processed on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) for site security and operation
- Where retention is required by Cypriot or EU law, the basis is legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c))
Your Rights
Under GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your Personal Data:
- Access: receive a copy of the Personal Data Proteasoft holds about you
- Rectification: correct any inaccurate Personal Data
- Erasure: request deletion of Personal Data Proteasoft holds about you
- Restriction: restrict how Proteasoft processes your Personal Data
- Portability: receive a copy of your Personal Data in a structured, commonly-used electronic format
- Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent: withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis for processing
To exercise any of these rights, contact Proteasoft through the contact form. Responses will be provided within 30 days. Identity verification may be requested before processing certain requests, to ensure your data is not disclosed to anyone else.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus (www.dataprotection.gov.cy) if you believe your data has been handled in violation of GDPR.
How Long Data is Kept
Personal Data from the contact form is kept while the inquiry is active and for a reasonable period afterward to allow for follow-up questions. Typically: up to 2 years from the date of the last interaction, unless legal obligations require longer retention.
Usage Data is kept in server logs for up to 6 months for security and operational purposes, then deleted or aggregated.
Business records related to contracted work (invoices, contracts, project files) are kept for the period required by Cypriot accounting and tax law, which is typically 6 years.
Where Data is Processed
Personal Data is processed in Cyprus. Where third-party Service Providers are used (such as web hosting or email infrastructure), data may be processed in other European Union member states.
If any processing takes place outside the European Economic Area, it is subject to appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or transfers under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable.
How Data is Protected
Proteasoft uses reasonable technical and organisational security measures to protect Personal Data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure server configuration, restricted access, and regular software updates.
No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While reasonable measures are in place, absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
When Proteasoft May Disclose Data
Proteasoft does not sell, rent, or trade Personal Data. Disclosure may occur only:
- When required by Cypriot or EU law
- In response to valid legal process (court orders or regulatory requests)
- To protect the legal rights, property, or safety of Proteasoft, its clients, or the public
- To prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the site
- To Service Providers acting under instructions from Proteasoft, as described above
